WCS-India conducts ‘Art of Making Conservation Work’ workshop at SCCS 2019

Oct 16, 2019: WCS-India conducted a workshop titled, “Art of Making Conservation Work” at the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) in Bangalore. The objective of the workshop was to explain the nuances and complexities of conservation science. The need for conservation advocacy and reflect on various methods of making conservation work.

There were presentations from Prakriti Srivastava, Addl. PCCF Rank IFS officer and Director of WCS-India; Praveen Bhargav, Managing Trustee of Wildlife First; Tarun Nair, Wildlife Biologist working with ATREE; Mridula Vijairaghavan, Legal Advisor WCS-India; Prerna Singh Bindra, Writer and Conservationist; Sahila Kudalkar, Conservation Scientist WCS-India; Mayank Aggarwal, Sr.Journalist at Mongabay and, Imran Siddiqui, Conservation Scientist WCS-India.

After presentations the participants were split into 4 groups and scenarios were given for people to think about appropriate conservation interventions. Followed by a panel discussion with Prerna Singh Brinda, Mayank Aggarwal, Praveen B, and Prakriti S.
